Remembering Lesser Known Ancient Greek Pioneers

Due to its recent financial turmoil, Greece has become a symbol of the modern, dysfunctional state. While the Phonyon editorial staff agrees with much of the criticism that has been leveled at modern Greek society, recently the level of vitriol has become excessive.

In this current hyperbolic environment, we think it is important to acknowledge and recognize the profound and fundamental influence that Greek culture has had in shaping the contemporary, Western-style democracy.

The contributions of the titans of Ancient Greece, e.g. Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, Pericles, et al, are almost self-evident. We would like to take this opportunity to recognize some of the less well-known, though still influential, great thinkers of Greece whose revolutionary ideas have transformed human history:
