MaryJane Now Neck And Neck With Hooch As ‘Mad Men’ Drug Of Choice

Marihuana (Cannabis Sativa) now rivals perennial favorite booze as the go-to intoxicant for many of the principal characters in the award-winning television series Mad Men, the sixth season premiere revealed last night.

The leaves of the dried plant, colloquially known by various “street” names such as dope, grass, tea, and pot, are apparently now openly consumed in a variety of settings including offices, hotel rooms, and hippie drug houses.

Mothers from the series’ epoch expressed concern that their sons and daughters might overdose on the volatile, unpredictable substance, and demanded to know who their pusher was.

  1. The Phonyon is reluctant to comment on any possible plot developments, in light of show creator Matthew Weiner’s gag-order on plot discussion. Suffice to say, the kids of today (1967) would probably not think he was a total square, despite his position of being part of the problem rather than the solution.
